Ipamorelin opens with Aib — alpha-aminoisobutyric acid, an alanine carrying a second methyl group on the alpha-carbon. That substitution makes position one achiral and sterically crowded, biasing the local backbone towards a turn and removing a site aminopeptidases would otherwise recognise. What is Aib and why is it at position one?
Alpha-aminoisobutyric acid: alanine with an extra methyl group on the alpha-carbon, which leaves that centre achiral.
