"Lab tested" is one of the most common phrases on a research-peptide listing, and one of the least precise. On its own it is a badge, not a record. It does not say which lab, which method, which batch, or which date — and those four facts are what turn the phrase from a claim into something you can verify. At face value, "lab tested" states only that some analysis was run by some laboratory at some point. It is a category label, not a result. A listing can carry the phrase and still leave every load-bearing detail unstated:

- Which method? A purity figure from HPLC and an identity result from LC-MS / MS answer different questions. "Tested" without a named method is a number with no question attached.
- Which batch? Testing applies to the specific lot that was sampled, not to every vial a listing covers.
- Which date? A report fixes the analysis in time; an undated claim cannot be tied to the run it belongs to.
Until those four are filled in, "lab tested" is a heading, not a finding.
What "lab tested" does not establish
Reading more into the phrase than it carries is the common error. A bare testing badge does not by itself establish any of the following:
- That the document describes your vial. A report belongs to a single lot. A testing claim becomes checkable when a full certificate of analysis (COA) sits behind it. The fields to look for:
- Compound name and CAS number — the material as tested, cross-checked against the listing and the label.
- Lot / batch number — the identifier used to match the report to the vial.
- Named test method — HPLC for purity, LC-MS / MS for identity, stated explicitly rather than implied.
- Purity result against its method — an area-percent figure tied to the named HPLC method.
- Identity result — the detected mass against the expected molecular weight and molecular formula.

- Test and report dates — when the analysis was run and the certificate issued.
- Issuing party — who performed or authorised the testing, named as an entity.

- Ask for the full COA for the specific lot — not a cropped figure.
- Match the lot to the label character-for-character.
- Confirm a named method for both purity and identity.
- Check the dates so the report ties to the run.
- Note who issued it — supplier bench or an independent named lab.
